PREMISE.
_________premise. WHATEVER THE CIRCUMSTANCES BEFORE, be they life-threatening or otherwise, you now find yourself strapped upon a table in your friendly neighborhood laboratory. Take the time to look around, as for the moment you're not going anywhere. The clothes on your back are still on your person, but any looser items you may have had are now resting on a handy table next to you, right beside a cell phone and a plain, black charger. Struggle and pull all you want; your binds remain ever steadfast and show no sign of breaking. Never fear, though, because after a moment, the straps release automatically to the phone's vibration. It's a simple precursor to an automated message given to you by a young, female voice: Congratulations! You've been chosen to partake in the Human Regenesis Program. Beside you, you will find any and all items you had on your person upon your pull point, as well as a handy pamphlet to bring you up to speed. Once you feel sufficiently informed, you may proceed out the doors and into the lobby. No amount of fiddling with this cell phone will turn off this message until it's through. Might as well see what's in the pamphlets, eh? Further inspection reveals them to be titled Fictional Realities and YOU and What to Do if you Aren't Real. Go ahead and take the time to peruse these; the doors to the outside world are locked until the Caretakers feel you are sufficiently informed. You see, you're a fictional character; nothing more than the product of someone else's imagination. Don't believe it? The Caretakers will be more than happy to show you your origins to prove their point. Pull up a chair and read your story in black-and-white print. Or if you're a more visual type, sit down and watch your movie, play your game, read your webcomic. Find some fansites on the clunky old computer in the corner, if you want. It's a lot to take in, don't worry. There's water on the counter and crackers for your stomach. It's not all bad, though. Up until now, it's spared you from the real world, a place devastated by infection and crawling with the walking dead. And this isn't a video game, or a book, or a movie where the producers need a happy ending to please the crowd. The world doesn't bend to story tropes here, and any population that once existed is nothing more than scattered survivors and groaning zombies. That's where you come in. Your goal for now? Well, you'll have enough on your plate simply trying to survive. While the Caretaker technology can bring you back, the process involved tends to have some kinks in the system. But maybe, just maybe, you'll all find it in yourselves to band together, beat back this infection, and bring civilization to this barren wasteland of a home planet. Or maybe whoever brought you here has read too many stories. So good luck, young hopeful. And welcome to Earth. ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ Deadweight is a panfandom, horror-survival RP with an ever-changing landscape, set in a post-apocalyptic Earth where zombie infection has reduced the human race to nearly nothing. Your goal for now is simply to avoid infection and, hopefully, try to find a way to rebuild this world. Beyond that, this wasteland is yours for the taking, though life isn't always as simple as that. An entire world's population is now nothing more than zombies, so you better be ready to move at a moment's notice. Those things swarm quicker than you think. | ||
